A 32-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Victoria Ndu has been arrested in Akwa-Ibom State for faking her own kidnap and demanding N3m ransom from her church.
Mrs. Ndu was arrested with her younger brother, Victor Akan, who was alleged of conspiring with her.
She had made the church(name withheld) where she was a member to believe she had been kidnapped and her abductors were demanding N3m ransom.
But following investigation after the suspect was rescued by men of the anti-kidnapping squad from Akwa-Ibom State Police Command on August 24, it turned out
that she had faked the kidnap.

The police paraded her and her brother before newsmen on Monday.
Speaking, the suspect claimed to be an orphan saying she embarked on the unholy venture to raise money for her late parents’ burials.

She said, “Our father died in 2008, but we did not conduct any burial ceremony for him. In April this year, our mother also died, but since then, she has not been buried because of no money. We wanted to conduct burial for both of them.”
