Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on Saturday, sacked his executive assistants from Enugu North Senatorial District over their nonchalant attitude towards the ongoing voter registration being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The governor regretted that the former EAs did not live up to their responsibilities in the wards in terms of sensitisation, mobilisation and promotion of government programmes, policies and interests at the grassroots.
The governor directed the sacked aides to go back to their various wards to revalidate their mandate and obtain fresh endorsement from the people before being reappointed.
Addressing the Enugu North Senatorial District Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party in Nsukka, Ugwuanyi noted that the voter registration was vital to the fortunes of the party and the state in the 2019 general elections.
“The ongoing voter registration is the key, it is very important to us. It is beyond the election. It is about all of us. Unfortunately, the EAs appointed to drive this campaign for the government at the grass roots have not done much in terms of sensitisation and mobilisation.I hereby declare their positions vacant in Enugu North Senatorial District,” he said.
