Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has endorsed the Anchor Loss of Employment Insurance Scheme, one of the products of Anchor Insurance Company Limited.
According to a statement obtained on Sunday from the Head, Brand & Corporate Communications of the firm; Mr. Jamiu Osoba, the former President gave the endorsement when the company’s management paid him a courtesy visit at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The General Manager, Retail and Micro Insurance, Mr. Uzoma Ofurum, reportedly introduced the innovative insurance product to the former president.
He informed that the product was developed to cushion the effect of the sudden loss of employment with the payment of salary to policyholders for 24 months after loss of job.
According to the statement, the former President said he would support the product’s promotion and advised Nigerians and employees to take the insurance policy in order to enjoy its benefits in the event of job loss.
He urged the company to develop products or insurance policies for the elderly.
Anchor Insurance also said it had partnered the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library to promote the ‘Adopt an animal’ programme of the OOPL Wildlife Park by adopting a lion tagged ‘Anchor Lion’ in the wildlife.
The statement also hinted about Obasanjo’s plans to insure the animals in the wildlife park against the third party liabilities, adding that it was essential to protect the visitors to the park from any unanticipated eventualities.
“Just in case somebody puts his hand in a lion cage or a lion breaks out, it is very important to have insurance despite all the barricades and cages we have in the park,” he stated.
Anchor Insurance said that with this partnership, the company had created the opportunity to contribute to the conversation of local animal species and encourage their reproduction and preservation of wildlife, which in its stead would further encourage local tourism.
