Chelsea boss Anthonio Conte has called on his players to be watchful of Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final tie on Sunday at the King Power Stadium.
Conte warned his players not to let their guards down because either Iheanacho or Jamie Vardy is expected to start for the Foxes on Sunday.
Iheanacho has never scored against Chelsea in the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League. His only goal against the Blues was three years ago when he was still with Manchester City’s U-18 team in the final of the FA Youth Cup.
Conte told Chelsea’s website on Friday that all Leicester strikers were dangerous and needed to be watched to avoid losing the tie.
He said, “Special plans? Our special plan is to try to defend well. For sure we know about (Jamie) Vardy’s characteristics. He is a clever player. He is very good at attacking space and finding the right time to do. We must also pay great attention if they decide to play with (Kelechi) Iheanacho or (Shinji) Okazaki.
“It won’t be easy. Leicester are a good team, a team who won the (Premier League) title two years ago. In their squad they have many talented players with good qualities. They want to fight a lot. In the game we played against them at home we suffered a lot because they put a lot of pressure on and they ran a lot.”
