The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji in Ondo State has permanently taken over the St. James Caring Heart Mega Primary School, also located in the town.
The school is one of the mega primary schools established by the administration of Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in the 18 local government areas of the state. But most of the schools did not commence operations before the administration ended its tenure last year.
The Rector of the polytechnic, Prof. Adedayo Fasakin, who spoke with journalists after the second matriculation ceremony of the institution, confirmed that the primary school had been handed to the polytechnic as a take-off site and as
part of the counterpart contribution of the Ondo State Government to the polytechnic.
He said, “This place has been given to us permanently by the government of Ondo State. If there is nowhere to take off, Federal Government will not ask us to start the school.
“This school is located in Ondo State and the people that will benefit from it most are indigenes of the state. So they have to release everything to us and it has been released. We have a letter backing it.”
“We will still be at our take-off site. We have just started developing our permanent site. We have opened up the place and about six roads have been constructed. Some many things have been done there. We have opened the place with a road network and lecture theatres have been built”
He gave the assurance that some of the projects in the permanent site would have been completed next year.
“By this time next year, we will move to our permanent site, “the rector said.
