The Lagos State House of Assembly will, on Tuesday, hold a day public hearing on a bill to amend the 2018 Land Use Charge law.
According an advertorial signed by the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. Azeez Sanni, the event is slated for 10am at the Lateef Jakande Auditorium at the Assembly complex.
Stakeholders and the general public are to deliberate on a bill for ‘a law to amend the Land Use Charge Law 2018 and for other connected purpose’.
The bill specifically seeks amendments to the principal law, sections 1, 3, 9, 17, 21 and the Schedule of the 2018 Land Use Charge Law.
The six-man ad hoc committee on Land Use Charge, chaired by Mr. Bayo Oshinowo, representing Kosofe Constituency 1, is the host while Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, is the chief host.
There were protests recently when the state government jerked up the charges payable by 400 per cent as enabled by the Land Use Charge Law of 2018.
The charges were later reduced by slashing commercial charges by 50 per cent, reduction of charges for owner-occupier with third party — including industries and manufacturing concerns by 25 per cent—, introduction of installment payment system and waiver on late payments.
