The National Judicial Council on Friday released the names of 60 judicial officers recommended for appointment by governors of 24 states.
Two of the successful judges were recommended as the Chief Judges of Ondo and Plateau States, Justices O.O Akeredolu and Yakubu Dakwak, respectively.
A statement by the NJC’s Director, Information, Mr. Soji Oye, said the council made the recommendations at its 85th meeting.
Oye had in a statement on Thursday, stated that the council at the said meeting which held on Wednesday, recommended to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State the earlier suspended Chief Judge of state, Justice Theresa Uzokwe, and Justice Obisike Oji, who had a brief stint as the Acting Chief Judge of the state for compulsory retirement.
The NJC also said, among other things in the Thursday’s statement, that the council had set up committees to probe unnamed Justice of the Supreme Court and Chief Judges of two states.
The allegations against Justice of the apex court and the two Chief Judges were also not disclosed.
The statement had announced the recommendations of the 60 judges for appointments but their names were not given.
On Friday, Oye gave the names of those recommended for appointments as Chief Judges of Ondo and Plateau states, as well as the names recommended for appointments as new judicial officers.
According to Oye, the three nominated for judges of Adamawa State High Court are, Danladi Muhammed, Fatima Ahmed Tafida ad Bulila Ladukiya Ikharo.
Two were recommended for appointment as Akwa Ibom State High Court judges. They are Bassey Bassey Nkanang and Uwem Freedom Ibritam .
Only Josephine Mbayan Ayua was recommended for appointment as Benue State High Court judge.
For Cross Rivers State High Courts, the successful candidates are Imelda Etope Bassey, Obo Awusa Obo, and Emmanuel Ubua Agianpuye.
Delta State has the highest number of five nominees and the successful candidates are Dafe Celestina Idise, Egwu Joe, Okorodas Anthony Ezonfade (Dr.), Ideh Blessing Adaoleh , and Edun Ajueyitsi Joshua.
For Edo State, the candidates recommended for appointments are Irobosa O. A. Omotosho And Aigbona T. Momodu.
For Sokoto State, the candidates are Kabiru Ibrahim Ahmed and Isah Muhammed Bargaja.
Only Adamu Muhammed Kafin-Madaki was recommended for Bauchi State High Court.
