The Taraba State Police Command on Saturday said it has apprehended two suspected cult members who confessed to have carried out nefarious activities in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. David Akinremi, disclosed this in a statement in Jalingo.
Akinremi said the command, acting on intelligence, raided a hideout of one of the suspected cult groups on February 9 at the Abuja Phase II area of Jalingo and arrested some suspects.
The commissioner named the suspects as Emmanuel Kagaima, Aminu Hassan, Naomi Mathew, Ibrahim Abba Tukur, all males, and Nasarawa Iliya and Safiyu Stephen both females.
According to him, the suspects who confessed to be members of a cult group called ‘snake cult’, were planning to attack a rival group in the metropolis when they were arrested bearing dangerous weapons such as knives, daggers, axes and cutlasses.
