The All Progressives Congress has yet to name the technical committee to review the decision of its National Executive Committee on the tenure extension granted to party executives at all levels.
Findings by Saturday PUNCH in Abuja on Friday revealed that 72 hours after the party said it would set up the committee, there was no indication that this happened.
A top-ranking member of the APC, who spoke to Saturday PUNCH on condition of anonymity, said, “The issue of a technical committee over this issue does not arise. Mr. President as a leader of the party has spoken.
“What is before us now is first to end ongoing litigation over the matter and release the timetable for our congress. We no longer have the luxury of time.”
Attempts to seek further clarifications from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, were futile as he was said to have travelled out of the country.
Abdullahi had told journalists after Tuesday’s NEC meeting that the party had resolved to set up a technical committee to review its position on tenure elongation.
