A gunman killed 10 people, including a police officer, at a grocery store in Colorado as footage showed a handcuffed man covered in blood and injured shoppers lying inside and outside the supermarket.
The incident unfolded just before 3pm local time at the King Soopers grocery store located at 3600 Table Mesa Drive.
Boulder Chief Maris Herold identified the officer who was killed in the shooting as Officer Eric Talley.

Herold who called Talley a hero, said he was the first on the scene when he was fatally shot. Talley was 51 years old and had been with the Boulder Police Department since 2010.
During an earlier press conference, Boulder Police Department Commander Kerry Yamaguchi confirmed that they have 'a person of interest in custody'.

'We do have a person of interest in custody, that person was injured during the incident, and is currently being treated for their injuries,' Yamaguchi said.
Yamaguchi would not confirm if the person in custody is the same shirtless and bleeding man who was seen being escorted out of the grocery store by two police officers earlier in the day.
The man, who is now being treated for his injuries, was seen with blood running down his leg while he was handcuffed. No charges have been filed.
A motive for the shooting has not been determined but an AR-15 style rifle is believed to have been used.
The DA calls the injured person in custody the alleged shooter.

“He took his job as a police officer very seriously. He had seven children. The youngest is 7 year old. He loved his kids and his family more than anything. He joined the police force when he was 40 years old. He was looking for a job to keep himself off of the front lines and was learning to be a drone operator. He didn’t want to put his family through something like this and he believed in Jesus Christ,” Eric's father, Homer said.
Authorities said they are also unsure about how many people are being treated at local hospitals, but Boulder Community Health confirmed to CNN that they have one patient who was transported to the center from the shooting.

My heart goes out to the families of the Coloradans, including a Boulder police officer, whose lives were tragically taken by a senseless act of gun violence. I am deeply grateful for the swift response from law enforcement and first responders. As the investigation continues, we need to revisit a national conversation about gunnviolencenthat does not regress into partisanship. It's long past time for Congress to take meaningful action to keep deadly weapons out of the wrong hands.
There are steps that the overwhelming majority of Americans want us to take. And they have every right to expect us to finally do somethimg about gun violence in our Country.
Enough is enough.
