An expert on housing has called on the Federal Government to embark on a full housing scheme to take care of medium and low income earners and address the housing deficit in the country.
The Managing Director of Symphony Garden City, Bola Adeboye, said this in an interview with journalists shortly after an ‘investors’ forum’ on the company’s proposed estate at Ogudu, Oworonsonki, Lagos State.
He also noted that an stringent policies of the government on land acquisition and housing were some of the factors responsible for low investment in housing sector by foreign investors.
Adeboye lamented that some polices on housing had become unbearable for investors, adding that in some countries, government’s interference was minimal.
He said, “There is the need for government, especially the Federal Government, to embark on mass housing scheme across the country in order to address the nation’s housing deficit.
“Investing in housing in Nigeria is taxing because the government keeps bringing different policies.”
Addressing investors at the forum, Adeboye, described the new estate by the company as “an exquisite luxury of an island on Lagos mainland,” adding that it would be affordable to the middle and upper class earners.
